Priming Your Pump

Most may not know what “Priming your Pump” means. It’s a term used from our grandparents and great grandparents, who had to rely on outside pumps to bring fresh well water from underground into the house. In order to get the pump primed you had to dump a pail of water into the top as you pump the handle. For a minute visualize yourself as the pump and the pouring of the water as the Holy Spirit. Each of us has our own pumps to prime in order to get a fresh anointing from the Holy Spirit. How do we keep the fresh water flowing? We must spiritually prime our pumps by pouring ourselves into the scriptures, being diligent in our prayers and in our faith and trust in God.

When you make a daily effort to keep putting God's word first, you're sure to get a fresh thirst quenching, life sustaining drink from the fathers well of living water. Make a decision to prime your spiritual pump with faith and wisdom; prayer and fasting. What will you prime the pump (yourself) with today?

Today’s Prayer

Omnipotent God please teach us/me to allow your Holy Spirit to pour into us that we may reap the freshness of your love, your grace and mercy. Allow us/me to drink from the cistern of righteousness and truth. May we get a fresh anointing of faith. May we be victorious in all of our battles today. May we prime our hearts to stay in your will for our lives. May we drink from your well of living waters, that we will be refreshed in our daily walk with you.

Amen.
